Badge Wi-Fi setup
Badges join the staff network from the dashboard, over Bluetooth, without a keyboard on the badge. A manager or IT does it once per badge; the badge remembers the network.
- Open the badge in the dashboardOn the Badge tab, connect to the badge over Bluetooth from a laptop or Android phone. The badge lights blue for two seconds when the link is made.
- Pick the networkThe badge scans and lists what it hears. Choose the staff network and enter the passphrase, or upload the certificate for an enterprise network.
- Watch it joinThe dashboard shows the result: joined, or the reason it could not (wrong passphrase, network not found, no address given, time not set). Fix the cause and try again.
Enterprise networks
WPA2-Enterprise with EAP-TLS is supported: each badge gets its own client certificate, and the identity is whatever your RADIUS expects. Username and password schemes vary by vendor; tell us which one your network uses before the setup day and we will confirm it.
If a badge cannot join
| Reason shown | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Network not found | The network is not on 2.4 GHz here, or its name is hidden. Badges need the network to be visible. |
| Wrong passphrase | Exactly that. Passphrases are case-sensitive. |
| No address | DHCP did not answer, often because of a client limit or an allow-list. |
| Time not set | No NTP reachable. See the time line on the network page. |
| Joined, but not reaching Harlow | Outbound 443 is blocked, or a captive portal is in the way. |
