Going live
Most properties are live the same day the team is on site. What takes time is what the hotel prepares beforehand, and all of it is listed here.
The pilot
We run a pilot scoped to one property, or part of one, with targets agreed at the start: typically time to acknowledge and time to resolve for the departments in scope. The pilot has a defined length, after which the hotel decides, and the hardware comes back to us if it does not continue.
Before the setup day
- PMS user
- A named Opera user for Harlow, with the front office permissions a desk agent has
- Staff list
- Names and departments of everyone who will wear a badge or use the app, plus who manages whom
- Rooms
- The room roster and which department serves which floors, for routing
- Property facts
- Time zone, night-audit window, the email approvals should go to
On the day
- AccountsHotel IT, or we, create the staff accounts. Each person gets a login code they keep to themselves.
- ConnectorThe workstation is paired from the IT view and the Opera probe turns green. See the IT checklist.
- BadgesEach badge joins the Wi-Fi from the dashboard over Bluetooth and is handed to its first wearer, who connects it from their phone.
- End-to-end checkOne spoken request lands in Opera as a trace while IT watches. Then live writes are switched on together.
- The teamA ten-minute briefing with the printed guide: one tap, say the room, tap again; two buzzes means look at your phone; hold for an emergency.
